As early as 6.30am today, volunteers and participants gathered at the Sri Serdang field to show their enthusiastic support for Nalanda Walkathon 2014. A total of 1,411 participants turned up for the wonderful event despite the hazy and wet conditions.
The air was filled with high spirits and determination when participants of all ages came together to support Nalanda’s “Walk for Education” in Taman Sri Serdang. The walk was flagged off at 8am by popular radio deejay, Mr. Chan Foong.
More than 600 out of 1,537 people who registered for Nalanda Walkathon 2014 have arrived at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang by 7.15am! Nalanda Walkathon 2014 is just 2 days away on SUNDAY, 16 MARCH. Come join 1,537 other walkers to “Walk for Education” in Taman Sri Serdang! Registration for participants starts at 7am in the soccer field opposite Nalanda Centre. We shall do warm-up exercises en masse before the flag off.
Nalanda Walkathon Sub-Committee led by Sis. Evelyn Chow, Bro. Vincent Lee and Bro. Charlie Teng had a meeting with the organising team members for updates on the event on Sunday, 12 January. Everyone on the team was enthusiastically looking forward to supporting this meaningful event which will be held on 16 March.
In the early morning on Sunday 5 January, a team of 16 Nalandians did a promotion of ‘Nalanda Walkathon’ in Kuala Lumpur. The team managed to reach out to 3,000 members of the public at a community event in Padang Merbok.
More than 300 participants turned up at Bukit Jalil Recreation Park on a crisp Sunday morning on 4 March to take part in Nalanda Walkathon – “Walk for Education 2012!” This time around, there were more group participation from schools, private companies and local council staff members. One out-station participant, an undergraduate from Perak, even arrived the night before and slept under a canopy in the Park!
