Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan was invited by the Buddhist Fellowship to Singapore for Dhamma talks recently. On Saturday, 13 April, he conducted Nalanda Institute’s full-day ‘Karaniya-Mettā Sutta Commentarial Course’ for about 100 participants. The participants were truly inspired by the by the beauty and depth of Dhamma taught by the Buddha, especially in the development of Loving-kindness (Pāli, “Mettā Bhāvanā ”).
Bro. Tan brought out the essence of Loving-kindness (Pāli, “Mettā ”) in the commentarial course. Each original Pāli verse was clearly elucidated and carefully explained to illustrate the gradual development of Mettā. The whole-day course was laced with much humour, coupled with insightful teachings, making it light and engaging. The participants were truly inspired by the beauty and depth of Dhamma taught by the Buddha.
On Sunday, 14 April, Bro. Tan delivered another interesting talk on ‘Honouring Our Departed Ones’ to more than a hundred people. Many devotees had questions for Bro. Tan after the talk, stretching the Q&A Session to more than an hour.
It was truly a fruitful weekend spent learning and discussing the Dhamma in Singapore. We rejoice in all these meritorious acts, and wish all members of Buddhist Fellowship and devotees in Singapore continued spiritual progress and happiness! Sadhu anumodana!
