Profile of Ven. D. Upananda Thero

Ven. D. Upananda Thero was born in 1967 and entered the Sāsanā at the age of 14.  He received his higher ordination at the age of 20 in Sri Lanka.

The Venerable is the Senior Patron of the Sri Lankan Buddhist Society of Calgary, Canada. Venerable was appointed as the Chief Sanghanayake of the North American region in August 2014.   Venerable Upananda is currently a PhD candidate in Buddhist Studies at King’s College, London.
