Nalanda Officers attend Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue

On Friday 1 November, Nalanda Founder Bro. H S Tan, Director of Pustaka Nalanda Bro. Ananda Fong, and Board Member Bro. Charlie Teng, together with Datin Seri Mah Ming Yuet and Ajahn Malee Praison, attended a Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue entitled “Peace & Sustainability”.  The Inter-faith Dialogue was jointly organized by Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM – the Malaysian Institute of Islamic Understanding), International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB), and the International Movement for a Just World (JUST).  The dialogue was hosted by IKIM at their headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

The Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue at IKIM saw a packed hall of participants from more than a dozen countries.

Participants from more than a dozen countries took part in the event, including delegates from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Japan, Singapore, the USA, and Malaysia.  The panelists who spoke at the forum were renowned intellectual-activists Dr. Chandra Muzaffar from Malaysia and Ajahn Sulak Sivaraksa from Thailand.  Also on the panel were Reverend Alan Senauke from the USA and Prof. Azizan Baharuddin, Deputy Director-General of IKIM.

Many delegates took a keen interest in Nalanda Institute Malaysia and express their wish to visit Nalanda Centre after the conference.  A few foreign institutions were also interested to collaborate and forge exchange programmes with Nalanda Institute.  Bro Tan extended an invitation to the delegates to visit Nalanda Centre to have greater understanding and further dialogues.  Bro Tan also congratulated Bro. Vidyananda Soon, Mr. Liow Kok Meng, Miss Lim Sze Wei and other INEB coordinators for their hard work in organizing this event.  Sadhu anumodana and thank you all.
