Today, 8 March 2024, marks the disappearance of MH370 exactly a decade ago. The ill-fated plane which carried 239 people bound for Beijing, vanished from radar screens after taking off from Kuala Lumpur. This flight never arrived, after its last message – “Good night, Malaysian three seven zero.”
This tragedy gives us an insight into how many things are just beyond our control. Nowadays, we may complain and even rage when flights are delayed or when things are not per our expectations; we can instead reflect wisely and cultivate gratitude for what has gone right, and for every blessing that we have.
Let us fill our hearts with loving-kindness for all beings and on this melancholy anniversary, send ‘metta’ to those who survived the passengers and crew of MH370 – May they continue to have strength and serenity. We also pray for those who perished in this tragedy – May they rest in Peace. ‘Santī’.
