The offering of lights, flowers, fruits and water is a common practice in the Buddhist tradition and Wesak Day during Pūja.  Instead of doing this as a ritual, let us better understanding the significance of these offerings, so that we can reinforce our faith and devotion, as well as enhance one’s spiritual practice.

• The offering of light symbolizes the wisdom of the Buddha’s teachings that dispels darkness and ignorance.
• Flowers represent the beautiful yet impermanent nature of life.
• Offering fruits is to remind us to be mindful of the fruits of our actions and intentions.
• Water represents the purity of our minds when practicing the Dhamma.
