1. Make monetary donations

Monetary donations in cash/cheque can be given to Nalanda office or direct bank-in/transfer to Maybank Berhad 5121-4702-3622, payable to Nalanda Buddhist Society.

(Note: For bank transfer, please quote Society’s registration no.1880-03-7.)

2. Commit to pledge a sum of money every month for a period of at least 6 months

Donation Receipts & E-Invoice Information

1. Tax Exemption Eligibility
Eligible for tax exemption receipt:
• Malaysian individuals or Malaysian business entities
• Donations made specifically to Nalanda Education and Development Fund

Not eligible:
• General Donations
• Non-Malaysian individuals or business entities
2. Important Timeline for Donation Receipts
(a) For donations below RM10,000 and non-Malaysian donor requests for tax exemption receipts or general donation receipts must be made within the same month as the donation.

Example :
Donation made on 15 January → Request must be made by 31 January.
Requests from 1 February onwards cannot be processed.


(b) For donations above RM10,000 made by Malaysian individuals or Malaysian business entities, donors MUST submit the information stated in Section No. 3 within 72 hours in order to receive a tax-exemption receipt.

Nalanda is unable to issue any tax-exemption receipts or e-invoices after 72 hours from receiving the donation. In this event, a general donation receipt will be issued.
3. Tax Exemption Receipt – Required Information
Nalanda is granted tax exemption status under subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967.

Tax exemption receipts are recognised by IRB for income tax deduction. E-invoices are not valid for tax deduction.

If you require a tax exemption receipt for a donation made to Nalanda, please furnish the following information :

Individual Donors (Malaysian)
1. Name as per NRIC
2. NRIC Number
3. Residential Address

Business Entity Donors (Malaysian)
1. Business Name
2. Business Registration Number
3. Tax Identification Number (TIN)
4. SST Registration Number

4. General Donation Receipt – Required Information
For issuance of general donation receipt, please provide the following information :
• Individual name or business entity name
• Contact number

Receipts may be issued under an anonymous identifier upon request.
5. E-Invoice – Donations Above RM10,000 (Mandatory)
For donations above RM10,000 made by Malaysian individuals or Malaysian business entities, donors MUST submit the following information within 72 hours :

Nalanda is unable to issue an e-invoice after 72 hours from receiving the donation.
6. E-Invoice – Donations Below RM10,000 (Upon Request)
For donations of less than RM10,000, e-invoice issuance is not mandatory.

If an e-invoice is requested, donors must submit the information below :

Individual Donors – Required Details

Business Entity Donors – Required Details
1. Business Name
2. Business Registration Number

According to Income Tax e-invoice Guidelines, Nalanda is unable to issue e-invoice to the donor on the subsequent month(s) after receiving the donation. For example, if a donor makes a donation on 15 January, requests for an e-invoice must be made by 31 January. If the donor requests an e-invoice on or after 1 February, Nalanda is unable to issue it.
7. Non-Malaysian Donors (All Amounts)
For all donations made by non-Malaysian individuals or non-Malaysian business entities, e-invoice issuance is mandatory within the same month of donation regardless of amount.

8. How to Submit Your Information
Please email the required information to info@nalanda.org.my within the applicable timeline.

• Donation receipts will be issued in hardcopy.
• E-invoices will be issued in electronic format.
