Young working adults explore how to deal with failure and rejection

On Tuesday 17 June, the Young Working Adults group continued their monthly gathering to learn about ‘Dealing with Failure and Rejection’ from Sis. Foo Ai Li at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Happy Garden. The session led the youths to better understand the fear of failure and overcoming them with practical steps.

For most, we fear failure and rejection because it hurts our ego.  However, failure is an inevitable part of life and plays a role in our learning and growth.  To manage our fear of failure, we can develop awareness of our feelings when unwholesome emotions arise, and not ruminate further on them.  We then stabilise ourselves to gain clarity and objectively reflect on the reason for failure. Then we take responsibility and respond calmly to the right person at the right time and place.

A group activity to let go of past failures instead of letting it burden us further.

Bro. Dexel hosted the session and warmly welcomed everyone.

Sis. Ai Li shared ways to not just cope, but move forward with clarity when we face failures.

Over time, we will be able to develop maturity, inner strength and courage within to face future adversities. Lastly, with a calm mind, we can come up with solutions to resolve the problem or mistake.  We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sis. Ai Li for shifting our perspectives on failures and even turn the situation around.  Happy Young Adults’ next learning session will be on Dhamma Day at Nalanda Centre on Wednesday, 9 July at 8pm. See you then!
