Kattika full-moon Uposatha

Today is the full-moon Uposatha Day of the month of Kattika.  According to the Pāli text, it also marks the Parinibbāna (final passing away) of Venerable Sāriputta, the Buddha’s chief disciple foremost in wisdom.

Venerable Sāriputta, foremost in wisdom among the Buddha’s disciples, was renowned for his profound understanding of the Dhamma, coupled with great humility and compassion.  It is a great reminder for us to be diligent and disciplined in our practice, to attain the highest form of wisdom and liberation.

Let us observe this auspicious day observing the Eight Precepts, engaging in meditation and reflecting on the noble qualities exemplified by this great disciple of the Buddha.
