Today 15 August, marks the 79th anniversary of India’s independence. With a population of more than 1.4 billion, India is the world’s largest democracy and is established as a global economic player being an extensive hub for manufacturing, services and technological innovation.

Yet it is also a land of deep spirituality. To Buddhists worldwide, it is the birthplace of our great Teacher, the Buddha, and our destination for holy pilgrimages.
