Disbelief as rescue workers worked hard to rescue those injured and recover the bodies of those who died.
Air India Flight AI171 which took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad at 1.38pm local time on Thursday 12 June crashed shortly after take off. The flight which was en route to London had 242 passengers and crew on board. Only 1 survived.
The plane crashed about one mile southwest of the airport, into the housing of a nearby medical school, injuring and claiming the lives of medical students and doctors living there. Authorities say that 269 bodies had been taken to the hospital so far.
