Today marks the new-moon day of the ‘Sāvaṇa’ month according to the Buddhist Calendar.  Uposatha day presents a meaningful opportunity for lay followers to deepen our practice through meditation, reflection, and observance of precepts with the aim of purifying the mind.

As the Buddha taught in Dhammapada verse 183 :

“Avoid all evil, do good,

Purify the mind;

This is the teaching of the Buddhas.”
