‘Svagatam Inspiring Programme’ sets foundation for Dhamma learning

Sis. Joanne Tan and Bro. Yeo Disheng conducted the learning sessions of the programme.

From 16 July to 17 September, 28 new Buddhists and parents of new Dhamma School students have been learning fundamental Buddhist teachings, aspects of Buddhist culture and etiquette to start their Dhamma learning journey in the ‘Svagatam Inspiring Programme’.

As Buddhists, it is beneficial for one to develop a good understanding of the reasons and values behind many common practices, so that we can meaningfully embed them as we strengthen our spiritual journey.  When we understand the spirit of our daily practice, we can also properly explain to others practices such as bowing to the Buddha-image and folding our palms in ‘anjali’, which are deeply rooted in values of respect and humility.

Sis. Joanne Tan and Bro. Yeo Disheng conducted the learning sessions of the programme.

Participants took notes and reflected diligently during the sessions.

There were also opportunities for participants to share their reflections with the group.

Participants learned more through the sharing and questions of their fellow learners.

The programme included a detailed tour of Nalanda Centre.

We rejoice in the participants’ completion of the programme, and extend our appreciation to all facilitators, volunteers and participants for their dedication and learning spirit.  May this foundational course set you in good stead to continue learning and realising the Dhamma with the support of good friends.  Sadhu anumodana.

In smaller groups, they discussed and shared their reflections.

In the final session, they shared their learnings from a Dhamma talk by Ach. S. Vijaya.
