A rejoicing and spirited start to the Selangor State Wesak Celebrations attended by members of the Buddhist community.
On Sunday 20 April, Nalanda leaders led by President Sis. Buddhinī Tan joined the community at the Selangor State Wesak Launching Ceremony at Maha Karuna Vihara in Shah Alam. The event which marked the beginning of Wesak celebrations in the state, was attended by over 300 Buddhist leaders and devotees.
Most Venerable B. Sri Saranankara Nāyaka Thero together with Special Committee of Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and Tao Religions in Selangor (Limas) co-chairman YB Ng Sze Han, and Tuan Shakir Ameer local Councillor for Elmina area launched the state-wide celebrations, which will feature a variety of activities to commemorate the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away of the Buddha, and reflect on His teachings with great respect and gratitude.
