Visit to Metta Lodge Johor Bahru

One big Buddhist family - Nalandians and their hosts at Metta Lodge, Johor Bahru.

On Sunday, 12 May, a group of Nalandian officers led by our President Bro. Lee Kong Foo and Johor Bahru Branch Chairperson Bro. Yap Chong Huat visited the Metta Lodge Buddhist Centre in Taman Melodies.  The Nalandians were warmly received by leaders of Metta Lodge, led by its President Bro. Heng Chai Teet and his deputy, Bro. Patrick Tan.

Metta Lodge is an established Theravada Buddhist organisation in Johor Bahru.  It is active in providing Dhamma classes for adults and the young, as well as in organizing periodic meditation retreats.  The most recent retreat conducted there by Ajahn Brahmavamso was concluded just days before our visit.

The visit to Metta Lodge is part of our familiarization tour of major Buddhist centres throughout the country.  At the same time, Nalanda President also personally extended our invitation to Bro. Heng and members of Metta Lodge to participate in the launching of NEO Centre Johor Bahru on Sunday, 26 May.

After hosting the Nalandians for a vegetarian lunch, the committee members of Metta Lodge made a return visit to NEO Centre Johor Bahru to meet up with Bro Tan.  Everyone had a fruitful 2-hour exchange of ideas over tea.  We thank Bro. Heng and members of Metta Lodge for their warm and generous hospitality, and their kind visit to NEO Centre.  May the Buddha-Sasana continue to flourish in Johor.
