On Tuesday 9 September, the ‘Young Working Adults’ group continued their learning from Datuk Charlie Chia about ‘Managing Expectations’ at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Happy Garden. The youths reflected on different expectations we have in life which often leads to stress.
We face high expectations from family, friends, employers, society and ourselve which can be overwhelming and stressful. When we compare ourselves against these expectations, we become anxious and constantly try to live up to them. Knowing that we have done our best, we should then develop acceptance and contentment to alleviate unnecessary stress.
Throughout life, we also need to learn to let go and accept change when it comes. We can approach things one step at a time and with mindfulness so that we can navigate challenges with calmness and clarity. When we surround ourselves with positive and wise friends, we can then better weather through tough days.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Datuk Charlie for his insightful sharing and reminders to live a fulfilling and stress-free life. We look forward to the next session in October, see you then!
