After nearly two months of insightful learning, the Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna Sutta sharing sessions concluded last Thursday at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The sessions led by Sis. Nandini Tan, a member of Nalanda Dhammaduta College, were well received and deeply appreciated by participants.
Since its commencement in end May, fellow practitioners journeyed together to explore the profound teachings on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness. Through studying the sutta and contemplative practice, participants cultivated direct awareness of the body, feelings, mind, and phenomena, thus laying a firm foundation for mindfulness.
Undergoing contemplative practice, participants cultivated direct awareness of the body, feelings, mind, and phenomena.
The Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna Sutta is regarded as the Buddha’s direct path leading to purification, the transcendence of sorrow and lamentation, the cessation of suffering, and the realisation of Nibbāna. It guides us to anchor ourselves in the present moment with awareness; observing the arising and ceasing of body-mind processes to realise impermanence, unsatisfactoriness, and non-self; and ultimately, arriving at direct insight into the Four Noble Truths, the core of the Buddha’s liberating path.
Throughout the sessions, participants did not merely learn about “mindfulness” intellectually — they practised mindful abiding in daily life, using Dhamma as a mirror to observe the mind and the phenomena of life.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to Sis. Nandini for her guidance, and we rejoice in the dedication and diligence of every participant. May we continue nurturing mindfulness in our lives — walking steadily towards clarity, peace, and liberation
