On Sunday 1 March, members of Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch gathered joyfully for their 13th Annual General Meeting at NEO Centre, Johor Bahru — coinciding delightfully with the 13th day of Chinese New Year!  The meeting was attended by 24 out of 39 JB Branch Members, along with Nalanda representatives President Sis. Buddhinī Tan and Assistant Treasurer Sis. Loh Pei Qi.

Sis. Pei Qi delivered the opening address on behalf of the Society, extending warm CNY greetings to all members and sharing that this was her first time joining the JB AGM — an occasion she felt truly grateful for.  She also rejoiced in the consistent turnout for the weekly meditation sessions and the Family Dhamma School, reflecting that the Branch is meaningfully serving the needs of the local community.

After receiving updates on the past term’s programmes, members proceeded to elect the Branch Management Committee for 2026–2028. Outgoing Chairperson Sis. Ong Ai Geok expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members, the outgoing committee and the many speakers who travelled to JB to support its programmes — especially Director of Nalanda Dhamma School Sis. Hui Shien, who makes the journey almost weekly with great selfless dedication.

Incoming Chairperson Sis. Saw expressed appreciation for the outgoing committee’s contributions and placed her trust in the new committee — a wonderful balance of experienced and new members — to continue moving forward in alignment with Nalanda’s vision and mission.

Sis. Buddhinī closed the meeting by warmly thanking the Immediate Past President, outgoing Management Committee, and all core volunteers for their tremendous efforts and contributions over the past term, especially those who faithfully supported the programmes.

May the new Committee serve the community with great dedication and commitment.
