On Saturday 28 March, 65 parents, students, facilitators and volunteers from Family Dhamma School Kuala Lumpur embraced the spirit of “Joyful Awareness” in their first outing of 2026 at Wisdom Park.
The outing brought learning outside the classroom, families to experience anchoring themselves in the present and cultivating a deep sense of communal harmony. The morning began with meditation and devotional chanting before learning how to quieten the mind, awaken their sensory awareness, and set a peaceful, collective intention for the day ahead.
Families were then guided for a mindful walk to the Waterfall Pavilion, focusing on deep listening to the symphony of the natural environment. The journey continued to Liberation Park for a blindfold walk — a practice in building trust and heightened non-visual perception. Afterwards, families had a team exercise of gathering natural treasures from the earth to create a unique mandala pattern.
Following the simple but insightful exercises, Sis. Paru guided parents on sitting and walking meditation while Sis. Sadhikā Tan guided the children in tactile awareness through a ‘stone touching’ mindfulness exercise.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the facilitators, parents, students, and volunteers. Your presence and service made this day a fruitful and enjoyable one. Sadhu anumodana!
