Vesakhā New moon Uposatha observance

Vesakhā New moon Uposatha observance

Today is the New-moon day of the holy Vesakhā Month.  In just a fortnight, Buddhists in Malaysia will celebrate Wesak or Buddha Day, the most important day in the Buddhist calendar.  We warmly invite all devotees and practitioners to observe the Vesākha New Moon Uposatha with faith and devotion.

This Uposatha observance commemorates the period leading up to the Blessed One’s Enlightenment, when the Bodhisatta steadfastly exerted himself in the earnest pursuit of liberation for the welfare of all beings.  Reflecting on the Buddha’s great determination and unshakable effort, may we too be inspired to cultivate ourselves earnestly and diligently.

Let us make this a meaningful occasion to observe the Eight Precepts, deepen our mental cultivation and Dhamma practice, and strengthen our commitment to inner cultivation and liberation.

We wish you a fruitful and peaceful Vesakhā New-moon observance.
