The fifth daily practice during the Gimhāna Retreat is do ground ourselves in evening chanting and reflection of our day. Take time at the end of the day to recollect and reflect on our actions, speech and thoughts throughout the day. The more that we reflect, the clearer we can see our progress and journey. We can ask ourselves the following questions as we reflect and track our spiritual progress:
What are my spiritual goals in this life?
How have I worked towards achieving them, today?
What conditions keep hindering my spiritual pursuits and progress?
What further steps should I take to improve my practice?
Have I been living mindfully and diligently in wanting to improve my practice?
With these reflection questions in mind, we can observe our daily progress and identify areas where we can do better the next day. This helps us ground ourselves in humility, patience and kindness towards ourselves. We wish you a fruitful retreat, and invite you to join us at Nalanda Centre for the Gimhāna Group Meditation this coming Wednesday 4 June, and Gimhāna Sunday Service on Sunday 8 June.
