Heartiest congratulations to Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro

Nalanda Buddhist Society Malaysia extends our heartfelt felicitations to Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro on being conferred the title of Somdet Phra Ratchakhana.  Ajahn is the first foreign-born monk in Thailand to receive this highest ecclesiastical honour.  As reported by The Nation Thailand on 14 July 2026, this royal recognition is a fitting tribute to his decades of exemplary monastic discipline, profound wisdom, and outstanding contributions to the preservation and propagation of the Buddha’s teachings.

A devoted disciple of the late Ajahn Chah and a highly respected teacher of the Thai Forest Tradition, Ajahn Jayasaro has inspired countless people around the world through his clarity of teaching, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Dhamma.  His life stands as a shining example of the transformative power of sincere practice and selfless service.

Nalanda has been deeply honoured to host Ajahn Jayasaro on many occasions over the years, most recently as the keynote speaker at WACANA 2025 in December.  His wise guidance and compassionate encouragement have been a continual source of inspiration to our spiritual community, strengthening our commitment to learning, practising, and sharing the Dhamma.

We rejoice in this well-deserved recognition and respectfully offer our deepest respects and warmest congratulations to Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro. May he continue to enjoy good health and long life, and may his noble efforts in illuminating the Dhamma continue to benefit countless beings for generations to come.  Sādhu anumodana.
