Lanterns of Joy, Light of Wisdom

Lanterns of Joy, Light of Wisdom

A joyful gathering as one big family.

On the night of Saturday, 11 October, Nalanda community joyfully gathered at Nalanda Centre to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the theme “Lanterns of Joy, Light of Wisdom.” Organised by Nalanda Dhamma School, the celebration brought together leaders, members, parents, youths, and students for an evening filled with warmth and camaraderie.

The programme began with meditation, chanting, and a Dhamma sharing by Sis. See Hui Shien, Director of Nalanda Dhamma School, who reminded everyone that the practice of Dhamma begins at home through kindness and giving. She encouraged families to offer not only material gifts, but also the “gift of good feeling”. It is an act of care and compassion that brings lasting happiness to others. Families then participated in interactive games and activities, working together on meaningful tasks that fostered communication, unity, and joy.

The evening began with a peaceful meditation session.

The evening continued with a potluck dinner, generously supported by parents and volunteers, followed by a lively ‘Talent Time’ segment where students, youths, and even parents offered their gifts through songs, music, and creative performances.

The celebration concluded with a mindful lantern walk around the neighbourhood, filling the night with soft light and gentle laughter.  It was a heartwarming celebration that truly embodied the spirit of joy and wisdom, reminding us that when families live by Dhamma, their light radiates harmony and inspiration to the entire community.
