On Sunday 23 August, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch hosted a group of 40 Buddhist friends from Seck Kia Eenh (SKE), Malacca, including Venerable Anuruddha and SKE President Bro. Tan Kim See, as part of their four-day educational trip to Kedah and Penang.

Arriving at the Nalanda Sungai Petani Education & Outreach Centre in the morning, the group was warmly welcomed by Nalanda leaders and members, led by the Nalanda SP Branch’s Chairman Dr. Song, before embarking on a learning journey to discover the rich Buddhist heritage of Bujang Valley.

Sis. Sandy Lim of the Nalanda Bujang Valley Heritage Team shared important historical significance to the group.

The heritage tour was led by Sis. Sandy Lim of the Nalanda Bujang Valley Heritage Team, who shared the historical significance of the ancient civilisation that once flourished in the region and its important connections with the development of Buddhism in the Malay Peninsula.

At the Bujang Valley Archaeological Museum and surrounding archaeological sites, participants learned about the remains and artefacts left behind by communities that lived and traded in the region many centuries ago. Through the sharing and on-site learning, the group gained a deeper appreciation of Bujang Valley not merely as an archaeological site, but as an important part of our shared Buddhist and Malaysian heritage.
