On Sunday 12 October, Nalanda Free School organised a Parenting Workshop to address a growing concern among families on how to respond when a child faces bullying at school. Bro. Aggaphala Yap, a qualified counsellor, led the session with clarity, first explaining the difference between playful teasing and serious bullying, and reminding parents to always listen attentively when a child speaks up.
He guided participants to recognise possible signs of bullying such as changes in behaviour, emotional withdrawal, physical discomfort, or declining interest in school. To help parents respond wisely, Bro. Aggaphala introduced the practical “4F Approach”:
Fact – Understand clearly what happened
Feeling – Acknowledge the child’s emotions
Finding – Guide reflection with right values
Future – Equip the child with self-protection skills
Designed for a small group, the workshop offered ample opportunity for interaction and personal guidance. Participants appreciated the supportive setting, gaining practical tools and confidence to nurture their children with both care and wisdom. We thank Bro. Aggaphala and all parents who attended for their dedication to fostering safe and loving homes. Sādhu!
