Walking the path of blessings as a family

Walking the path of blessings as a family

We express our heartfelt gratitude to Sis. Nandini and Sis. Hui Shien for making a day trip from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru to guide this session.

On Saturday 19 July, Nalanda Johor Bahru held its Family Dhamma School 17th session. The session began meaningfully with group meditation, offerings, and Pāli chanting, setting a serene and focussed tone for the day ahead.

This session featured two parallel Dhamma sharings:

For the parents’ group, Sis. Nandinī Tan, the Director of Nalanda Centre, shared a thoughtful conclusion on the Mangala Sutta.  Over the past few weeks, parents have journeyed through the layers of this profound discourse — from establishing a stable and ethical life, enjoying the company of wise friends, to the cultivation of wisdom and inner peace.  These are not mere ideals, but practical steps toward a truly blessed and meaningful life.

The session began meaningfully with group meditation.

Sis. See Hui Shien, the Director of Nalanda Dhamma School, led a heartwarming session on the importance of kind and gentle speech.

Students understanding the beautiful quality that fosters harmony, nurtures friendship, and uplifts those around us through active learning.

For the students’ group, Sis. See Hui Shien, the Director of Nalanda Dhamma School, led a heartwarming session on the importance of kind and gentle speech — a beautiful quality that fosters harmony, nurtures friendship, and uplifts those around us.  The children learned that the words we choose can be a powerful force for good, and that speaking with kindness is one of the 38 true blessings taught by the Buddha.

The session was truly enriching for both parents and children, with many feeling inspired to apply the Dhamma in their daily speech, thoughts, and actions.  We express our heartfelt gratitude to Sis. Nandini and Sis. Hui Shien for making a day trip from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru to guide this session.

Let us continue walking this Dhamma path — hand in hand, heart to heart — as one harmonious family. See you at the next School session!
