Youths go hiking with spiritual friends

Youths gathered for a hiking while practising mindfulness.

On Sunday 18 January, Nalanda Youth Centre came together before sunrise, eager to start the new year with a refreshing outdoor hike at Bukit Gasing.  The youths gathered at an open field, taking the opportunity to have light conversations and get to know one another first before the host welcomed everyone, lifting the group’s spirits and energy.

Being ready and prepped, the team leads guided the group into the woods.  In the uphill hike, participants faced both gentle sloping trails and steeper climbs, making them more aware and observant while looking out for one another and reminding each other to stay mindful and careful.  In doing so, the youths upheld the qualities of being a good friend to each other.

Reaching flat ground, the group shared their reflections led by Youth Leader Bro Yeo Disheng.  He also spoke about the qualities of a good friend, offering timely and reflective advice.  With food for the mind, the youths headed to lunch together and for more bonding time to get to know one another better.

We rejoice in the youths being blessed with favourable conditions to learn and are grateful to the organisers for making this hiking experience with spiritual friends a meaningful experience to start the year.  Sadhu!
