On Sunday 30 November, over 40 youths gathered at Nalanda Centre to learn more about gaining and maintaining emotional stability in a special workshop led by Bro. Aggaphala Yap. Comprising mainly university and college students, they easily related to the causes of anxiety, fear and uncertainty that Bro. Aggaphala shared as the most common amongst youths.
The first step to emotional stability is to identify these feelings as they arise. Do a self-scan in order to connect internally and gain mindfulness. Do not judge or be harsh on ourselves as this can make us even more anxious. As we take a moment to calm down, we gain more clarity to assess the situation and reflect on how to respond to achieve a good outcome. In this process, we will also learn more about ourselves and grow as a whole.
Our thanks to Bro. Aggaphala and Nalanda Youth Centre for this engaging session which helped the students better understand the causes of distress in their lives and ways to cope with them. Through applying these learnings, we hope that the students will thrive in their tertiary education and social challenges.
