A timeless path in a changing world

A timeless path in a changing world

On Wednesday 24 December, Nalanda Centre was honoured to welcome Ven. Ajahn Kalyano for a Dhamma teaching reminding us that the challenges we face in today’s world, with conflict, uncertainty, and suffering which are not new.  They were present even in the Buddha’s time.

Ajahn shared that while we may not be able to resolve the suffering of the world, the Buddha’s teachings show us where to begin: within our own hearts.  By understanding clinging, especially to views and the sense of self, and by cultivating qualities such as mettā, compassion, patience, and harmony, we gradually reduce suffering for ourselves and those around us.

The host, Bro. SY Tong, warmly welcomes the devotees to the evening service.

The evening service begins with pūjā and chanting.

Ajahn Kalyano reminds us that the challenges we face in today’s world with conflict, uncertainty, and suffering that are not new; they were present even in the Buddha’s time.

He encouraged us to keep returning to the Dhamma, listening, reflecting, and practising consistently.  The path remains timeless and available here and now, leading towards peace and clarity.

We are grateful to Tahn Ajahn Kalyano for making time to visit us and sharing with us the precious teachings of the Buddha.  We wish Ajahn the best of health, peace, and success in his Dhammaduta efforts.

“Keep returning to the Dhamma, learning, reflecting, and practising consistently.”

Devotees take the opportunity to clarify their questions about the practice.

Offering of requisites by the devotees.
