A joyful Mid-Autumn celebration at Nalanda Kuala Lumpur

A joyful Mid-Autumn celebration at Nalanda Kuala Lumpur

The gathering brought together Nalanda Buddhist Society Exco members, Branch Committee members, Family Dhamma School (FDS) students, parents, facilitators and volunteers.

On Saturday 26 September, laughter, warm smiles and the glow of lanterns filled NEO Centre, Happy Garden, as about 100 devotees gathered for a joyful Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration hosted by the Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch.

The gathering brought together Nalanda Buddhist Society Exco members, Branch Committee members, Family Dhamma School (FDS) students, parents, facilitators and volunteers.  Sis. Sunandā Ong gave a meaningful Dhamma sharing on nurturing harmony within the family.  She encouraged everyone to practise generosity towards one another, use kind speech, offer helpful actions, and treat everyone with fairness and respect.  These simple yet meaningful practices can strengthen understanding, trust and harmony within families.

Participants had fun taking part in, or cheering on, the evening activities prepared by FDS parents and facilitators, including lanterns competition, riddles and performances by the students.  A lively potluck dinner followed, with parents and volunteers bringing food to share, including traditional Mid-Autumn delicacies.

Through shared food, meaningful Dhamma reflections and joyful activities, everyone contributed to a warm and welcoming celebration – a true reflection of the spirit of Mid-Autumn: cherishing family, friendship and togetherness as the Nalanda community came together in harmony and joy, celebrating as one big family.
