Nalanda members and friends returned safely on Sunday night, 11 October, from Nalanda Institute’s enriching five-day Study Tour to Borobudur and Jogjakarta. The journey offered meaningful opportunities for learning, reflection and fellowship.
Our special thanks to Venerable Santacitto for guiding us through Borobudur and bringing the stories depicted in its reliefs to life. Through his explanations, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the Dhamma teachings conveyed through the monument’s intricate carvings.

The tour enabled the group to learn about the region’s Buddhist heritage and reflect on the dedication of past generations in preserving and sharing the Buddha’s teachings. It also reminded us of our own responsibility to learn, practise and pass on this precious heritage.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Sis. Nandinī Tan and all Nalanda leaders for coordinating the tour, and to every participant for contributing to a joyful and harmonious journey. It was a delight to travel with such cheerful, cooperative and helpful companions. May the learning and friendships nurtured during this tour continue to inspire our cultivation and service.
