On Friday 9 October, the Nalanda study tour group visited Vihāra Bodhivamsa in Klaten, Indonesia, where participants had the privilege of receiving a Dhamma sharing by Professor Dr. Lanny Anggawati. Her inspiring reflections offered a fresh perspective on happiness and reminded everyone to appreciate the precious opportunities we have in life.

She encouraged us to recognise how fortunate we are to be born as human beings, with the opportunity to encounter the Buddha’s teachings. As long as we are still alive, we have the ability to learn, make wholesome choices and improve our lives. Rather than dwelling on what we lack or allowing difficulties to overwhelm us, we can turn our attention towards the blessings we already have and the positive actions we can still take. Such reflections remind us that happiness begins with the right perspective and a heart that appreciates the present.

The group also visited Sekolah Putra Bangsa in Klaten, where they toured the school compound and learnt more about its educational environment. The visit was hosted by Bro. Adiyanto, Sis. Endang and Bro. Eko Budiono. It was another meaningful opportunity to connect with the local community and appreciate the efforts of those contributing to education and the well-being of future generations.

May the lessons from these visits inspire us to live with greater gratitude, contentment and purpose, making the most of this precious human life by learning, practising and sharing the Dhamma for the welfare and happiness of many. Sadhu anumodana!
