Last Saturday 16 March, over 100 participants, facilitators and volunteers commenced the first session of the Sigalovada Sutta’ (Digha Nikaya 31) Study Course in Mandarin. Held concurrently across all three Nalanda Branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani, this course is organised by Nalanda Institute Malaysia and provides an insight into the Buddha’s teachings about the laity’s duties and moral conduct.

This remarkable milestone symbolizes many years of unwavering dedication to the study, practice, and dissemination of the Buddha’s sublime teachings. The first few months of this year witnessed many Buddhist organisations opening up for in-person activities. With the easing of restrictions, Buddhists have been able to meet face-to-face, keeping the fervour of kalyana mitta burning bright in our community. I do hope that we will soon close the unfortunate chapter of the Covid-19 pandemic with a deep measure of optimism.

They hailed from Klang Valley, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani where they attended seven classes since February at NEO Centres in KL, JB and SP. The participants were happy to take to the open grounds of the educational campus for the final part of the course.
