We are happy to announce that Pustaka Nalanda is now open to the community after the completion of upgrade and maintenance works. In a simple ceremony, the library was re-opened by Ven. B. Sri Saranankara and Director of Pustaka Nalanda Bro. Ananda Fong together with the Society’s leaders on Saturday 31 August.

Read moreOn Wednesday 18 October, Pustaka Nalanda (the Library) embarked on its annual stock-taking exercise by five librarians with the help of volunteers. This exercise is part of a good library management system whereby all books are physically located, examined and repaired where necessary, accounted for, and placed back at the proper shelves.

Ananda Fong gave a talk on the contributions of Professor Thomas William Rhys Davids (1843 – 1922), founder of the Pāli Text Society (PTS) based in London. This was part of Pustaka Nalanda’s programme to commemorate historical personalities who had contributed significantly to the propagation of Buddhism over the last century.

They had a fruitful discussion with the branch librarians and volunteers about sorting and re-organising the library catalogue. In addition, both sisters also presented the ‘2015 Library Plans’ and updates on the OPAC System.
Read moreOn Sunday 26 October, Nalandians gathered in unity to commemorate yet another great Buddhist luminary – Venerable Narada Nāyaka Māha Thero. This commemoration day programme was both initiated and organised by Pustaka Nalanda (the library). The commemoration service began with pūja and chanting, followed by Dhamma teachings by Nalanda Founder Bro Tan. He spoke about values that Ven.
