Cultivating generosity through monthly Pindacāra

Cultivating generosity through monthly Pindacāra

Volunteers are on hand to assist the monks.

“Should a person do good, let him do it again and again.

Let him find joy in it, for blissful is the accumulation of merit.”

Dhammapada verse 118

On Saturday 20 September, Nalanda members and volunteers conducted the monthly Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) at the morning markets in Seri Kembangan.  Encouraged by the opportunity to do good, many from the local and market community are regularly participating, joyfully offering food and requisites with faith and gratitude.

After the alms-round, lunch dana is offered to the venerable monks.

The morning started with chanting, together with members and volunteers going to JB to support the Family Fun Fair.

Sis. Nandini reminding us that each of us should be dutiful in our conduct.

These simple yet profound acts of giving not only nurture compassion and humility but also deepen our own understanding of the Buddha’s teaching on supporting the Sangha community.  The serene presence of monks walking mindfully amidst the bustling marketplace served as a gentle reminder to live with virtue and mindfulness.

We rejoice in the wholesome deeds of everyone involved, and may the accumulated merits support the growth of wisdom, compassion, and happiness in all.  Sādhu!
