Establishing mindfulness: a journey through Satipatthāna

Establishing mindfulness: a journey through Satipatthāna

Nalanda has commenced its 12-session Satipatthāna Meditation Programme, held every Wednesday evening from June to September, guiding participants on the Buddha’s direct path to developing mindfulness, awareness and wisdom.

In the first two sessions, participants explored the foundations of Satipaṭṭhāna, the cultivation of mindfulness and clear comprehension in daily life.  They learned that meditation is not merely about calming the mind, but about developing the ability to observe experiences as they truly are, with understanding and wisdom.

Sis. Nandinī Tan guided the first session on 10 June.

Sis. Nandinī shared about the sitting postures.

The second session focused on Kāyānupassanā (Mindfulness of the Body), the first of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.  Through mindful awareness of sitting, standing, walking, and lying down, participants discovered how ordinary daily activities can become opportunities for cultivating presence, steadiness, and insight.

We rejoice in the enthusiasm and commitment of all participants, and warmly encourage those who have registered to continue this rewarding journey of learning, practice, and self-discovery.

Sis. Paruadi guided the second session on 17 June.
