From 5 to 7 September, 17 families from Family Dhamma School, Kuala Lumpur, gathered at Wisdom Park for a stay-in programme themed “Brahmavihāra – The Heart of Harmonious Living.” Over the three days, parents and children engaged in Dhamma sharing, service, and family activities that nurtured learning, togetherness, and appreciation of the four Brahmavihāras – loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity.
Highlights included a lively family telematch, meaningful Heart Work with Wisdom Park’s Green Warriors, and an Appreciation Dinner where everyone contributed with food, performances, and reflections. The sharing was especially touching, as parents and students spoke about their growth in Dhamma and recent experiences of teamwork at the Family Fun Fair. The evening closed with a moonlit walk and dedication of merits under the Uposatha full moon, leaving participants with a sense of serenity and joy.
On the final day, parents attended a Parenting Workshop by Bro. Aggaphala Yap, while children took part in a chanting workshop that deepened their appreciation for devotional practice. The programme concluded with a rejoicing session where families expressed gratitude and joy for the bonds strengthened and values cultivated together.
Heartfelt appreciation goes to the Dhamma School facilitators and volunteers for their tireless efforts in organising this stay-in. May all families continue to grow in harmony and joy, bringing the spirit of the Brahmavihāra into their daily lives.
Learning about the quality of Upekkha and how to implement it in parenting skills, with Bro. Aggaphala Yap.
