On Wednesday 24 June, members and devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre to learn Dhamma with Venerable Luang Pu Maha Sawaeng. In his compassionate sharing, Luang Pu reminded us of the great fortune we have today — to encounter the Dhamma and encouraged us to keep the Dhamma and Vinaya close to our hearts, and to walk this path with sincerity. He also emphasised the importance for lay practitioners to diligently observe the Five Precepts as the foundation for a wholesome and peaceful life.
Luang Pu further guided us on the cultivation of merit through having right intention. Before performing any meritorious deed, we must first arouse the intention to do good. As we carry out the deed, we sustain this intention with determination, even in the face of obstacles. And upon completing the act, we should rejoice in the goodness done, allowing the mind to feel joyful and fulfilled. When these three stages of intention are present — before, during, and after — merit arises and strengthens our spiritual growth. Luang Pu also guided devotees in meditation to complete the session.
We express our deepest gratitude to Venerable Luang Pu Maha Sawaeng for his inspiring teachings and compassionate presence. May he be blessed with good health, long life, and continued strength to guide many more on the path of Dhamma. Sadhu.
