Malam mendalami Dhamma dengan Ayya Santinī

Malam mendalami Dhamma dengan Ayya Santinī

“Kehidupan sendiri yang harus diurus”, Ayya advised us to manage our own progress.

On Wednesday 24 April, we had the priviledge of learning with Ayya Santinī, Abbess of Wisma Kusalayani in Indonesia.  Starting with the simile of the four types of thoroughbred horses in the Patoda Sutta (Anggutara Nikaya 4.113), Ayya urged us to consider where we are in our Dhamma cultivation and have urgency to journey on the Noble Eightfold Path.

Being able to learn Dhamma is a rarity in life; however many people fall back into their comfort zones and unwholesome habits without realising that time spent carelessly cannot be earned again. Rather than live with regret, Ayya advised that we constantly devote ourselves to develop the virtues of dāna, sīla and bhāvanā.

Sis. Nandini led members to receive Ayya.

The service commenced with evening chanting.

Ayya advised that if we really want to be kind to ourselves, we should have the discipline to follow the Buddha’s teachings.

Devotees listen attentively to Ayya’s lively teachings.

We extend our appreciation to Ayya Santinī for extending her visit to Malaysia to come visit us at Nalanda and for her timely advice.  May Ayya be healthy and blessed with all supporting conditions for her noble endeavours.  Terima Kasih Ayya!
