Nalanda to build ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’

Nalanda Buddhist Society will rebuild ‘Nalanda House’ in Sri Serdang and rename it the ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ to honour the centenary of our late Spiritual Adviser, the Most Venerable Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda Nāyaka Thero (1918 – 2006).  The proposed Centre will cater for the use of Nalanda Dhamma School, which has seen remarkable growth over the years.  The new 2½-storey facility will be able to accommodate 100 more students comfortably.

Nalanda House is the main base for Nalanda Dhamma School.

The Dhamma School operates from Nalanda House in Sri Serdang, which is already cramped and not too conducive for classes anymore.

The School needs more space for the growing number (and size!) of students.

Nalanda Dhamma School was the last Sunday School launched by the late Venerable in January 2005, a year before he passed away.  The School has expanded from an enrolment of 40 students back then to four branch schools today – two in Sri Serdang and one each in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru – catering for students aged 10 to 18.

Watch this short video where Director Sis. Sunanda Ong shares about the School’s programmes and the plan to build ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’.  We thank Bro. Lau Yun Wei for producing this beautiful video.  Sadhu anumodana.

School Honours Day to close the academic year.

Nalanda Dhamma School has steep and time-honoured traditions such as the annual ‘School Honours Day’ on 31 December to close the academic year.

The School has expanded from a single group of 40 students in 2005 to today’s four branch Schools in Serdang, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.
