On Friday and Saturday, 16 and 17 October, volunteers of the Nalanda SP Bujang Valley Educational Hub gathered for a tour guide training programme led by Sis. Sandy Lim, a member of the Nalanda Bujang Valley Heritage Team from Headquarters.

The training aimed to equip volunteers with an overview of Buddhism in Kedah Tua and the skills needed to host groups visiting Bujang Valley. It combined theoretical sessions at the centre with practical, on-site learning at the Bujang Valley Archaeological Museum, Sungai Batu Archaeological Site, and Pengkalan Bujang.

Sis. Sandy gave an overview of the history and geographical development of Kedah Tua.

Through these visits, volunteers learned about candis associated with Hindu and Buddhist traditions, stupas, and other historical structures, as well as various artefacts, sculptures, and inscriptions. They were also introduced to several skills for effective guiding, which help visitors understand the sequence and connectivity of the historical events.

We sincerely thank Sis. Sandy for conducting this fruitful and informative training programme. With the knowledge and experience gained, the volunteers will continue developing their understanding and guiding skills, preparing to welcome visitors and share the rich history and heritage of Bujang Valley.
