Sriwijaya Air SJ182 missing

We extend our hearts and prayers to those on board and their families.

Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182 enroute from Jakarta to Pontianak is reported to have gone missing yesterday (9 January) afternoon.  The passenger plane carrying 62 passengers and crew is suspected to have crashed into the Java sea shortly after taking off from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 2.36pm.

Indonesian authorities say the crash site is likely to be in the waters of Kepulauan Seribu, a series of islands near Jakarta, and have deployed search and rescue parties yesterday.  As efforts to find the lost Boeing 737 continues today, let us pray for those on board and send thoughts of loving-kindness to their families as they face this time of uncertainty.  May they remain strong mentally and spiritually.
