On Sunday 3 August, Nalanda members from Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur branches gathered at Nalanda Centre for Members’ Day- a time for progress updates, Dhamma learning, and active preparation for the upcoming Family Fun Fair.
President Sis. Buddhini Tan shared the Society’s direction, news, call for action and upcoming programmes. Sis. Sunanda Ong gave a meaningful sharing on culture as our social heritage, and emphasised on the need to cultivate endearing practices through continuous effort, reflection and refinement.
Commencing Members’ Day with offering to the Three Jewels, taking the Three Refuges, and observing the Five Precepts.

At Nalanda, culture is deeply rooted in the Buddha’s teachings, grounded in respect (gārava) for the Three Jewels- the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha, and expressed through values such as sikkhā (discipline in body, speech, and mind), appamāda (heedfulness), and generosity (patti-dāna). Members then rallied for the upcoming Family Fun Fair, working to finalise the finer details and align efforts to ensure a smooth event.
We rejoice in the wholesome gathering of kalyāṇa mittā (spiritual friends), coming together to learn, serve, and contribute meaningfully towards Nalanda’s core of providing Holistic Buddhist Education. Sādhu!
