Mettā Bhāvanā learning session commences

On Wednesday 28 January, Sis. Sunandā Ong led the first of twelve Mettā Bhāvanā learning sessions at Nalanda Centre.  Starting with a guided mettā meditation session, participants then learned that the word mettā, is derived from the Pali word ‘mitta’, meaning friend.  It refers to loving friendliness or loving-kindness expressed through goodwill, harmony and non-violence.

Mettā-bhāvanā strengthen wholesome mental qualities and builds emotional resilience.  It soothes the mind and further helps to establish inner tranquility.  Mettā is not a noble ideal, but a practical and a gradual transformative way of living with wisdom and compassion.

We extend our appreciation to Sis. Sunandā for her guidance, and the organisers for this platform to learn and practice.  We look forward to welcoming participants back for the second session on Wednesday 4 February, during the weekly meditation session at Nalanda Centre.
