When Knowing Sets You Free: a transformative Dhamma Workshop

When Knowing Sets You Free: a transformative Dhamma Workshop

On 11–12 April, Nalanda hosted a two-day Dhamma Workshop led by Ven. Ajahn Kittisobhano, attended by more than 120 participants.  With the theme “When Knowing Sets You Free,” the workshop guided participants in discovering how understanding the essence of truth leads to inner transformation and liberation.

Ajahn Kittisobhano presented a clear roadmap of seven progressive steps, offering practical tools and methods for self-exploration. He emphasised two key daily practices: recollection of the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha), and “accosting emotions” which carefully observing how they arise, their characteristics, and how they pass away.  Through such cultivation, one develops Right View, the first factor of the Noble Eightfold Path, enabling a clear understanding of the Four Noble Truths and the root of suffering.

Participants were also guided to understand the true nature of body and mind, and to avoid mistakenly identifying this combination as a “self.”  With proper understanding of the Five Aggregates, one can gradually replace ignorance and attachment with clear knowing.  Ajahn further explained the three types of craving, highlighting the importance of not reacting to them, but instead abandoning them through mindful noting — “knowing” and abandon actions that harm oneself or others.  By seeing that all phenomena arise and cease naturally, craving fades, leading to the cessation of suffering.

We are deeply grateful to Ajahn Kittisobhano for his compassionate guidance and clear exposition of the Dhamma, illuminating the sequential steps and interconnections that deepen our understanding of the Buddha’s teachings.  Sādhu anumodanā.
