Young working adults gathered to learn about ‘Right Livelihood & Right Use of Wealth’ from Datuk Charlie Chia.
On Sunday 13 September, the young working adults gathered to learn about ‘Right Livelihood & Right Use of Wealth’ from Datuk Charlie Chia, a respected corporate leader and Dhamma speaker. The session explored how wealth can be pursued responsibly and how our work and financial choices can contribute to our happiness and well-being.
The youths reflected on the four kinds of happiness that can be derived from wealth – the happiness of ownership, earning through right livelihood, being free from debt, and sharing one’s wealth. Wealth can bring happiness when it is earned through wholesome means and used wisely, rather than becoming a source of greed or attachment.
For young working adults navigating their careers, Datuk Charlie shared four ways to build sustainable wealth: developing our skills and working diligently, protecting what we have earned, cultivating good and supportive friendships, and living within our means.
The session also reminded us of the importance of Right Livelihood – earning a living in ways that do not cause harm to others. As we build our careers and financial future, we can reflect not only on how much we earn, but also on how our work contributes to the well-being of others.
