Young Working Adults group from Singapore visit Nalanda

From 5 to 7 July, Nalanda Youth Centre welcomed friends from DAYWA (Dhamma Assembly for Young Working Adults - Singapore) to visit Nalanda and Wisdom Park.  They are the organising committee for the upcoming August meditation retreat, and specially arranged this 'reconnaissance' trip to prepare for the retreat whilst also joining the learning programmes at Nalanda Centre.

Nalanda members explores ‘Sejarah Kedah Tua’ at International Conference

10 Nalanda members and volunteers are currently attending the International Conference : The History of ‘Kedah Tua’ (ancient Kedah) from the written records of Yi-Jing, held today 11 July in Kuala Lumpur.  The conference features a diverse panel of international researchers and speakers, and includes a special briefing by Dr. Nasha Rodziadi Khaw – Centre for Global Archeological Research, Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Family Fun Fair Volunteer Briefing

Well-spent public holiday at Nalanda Centre

Today, Nalanda members and volunteers came back to our ‘spiritual home’ on this national public holiday for a joyful day of service.  Meetings and discussions were held since the morning for management matters, Family Fun Fair preparations and currently, the community engagement is on-going.

Community gathers for Ariya Charity Fair

Early this morning, Nalanda members and volunteers joined the Buddhist community at Menara Ken in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail for a wholesome day of giving and service.  The Food and Family Fair is currently on-going until 2pm today, to raise funds for the construction of the 1st Malaysian Theravada Bhukkuni Nunnery & Dhamma Training Centre.

Dhamma talk tonight by Ajahn Narindo

Today, on the new-moon day of Āsālha, Nalanda members and devotees gathered since morning at Nalanda Centre for a day of cultivation.  Alternating between sitting and walking meditation sessions, the group received guidance from Ven. Ajahn Narindo, a monk of Chinese-Malaysian descent who has been residing and training at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery.

‘Rice of Merits’ collection during Gimhāna Retreat

During the annual Gimhāna Period, Nalanda members and devotees uphold a tradition to dedicate themselves to cultivating the 5 Daily Practices.  The 5 Daily Practices are (1) Morning chanting & making noble aspirations, (2)  Meditation, (3)  Listening to a Dhamma talk / reading a Dhamma book (4)  Performing an act of generosity and kindness (5)  Evening chanting & reflection.

Register for Cultivation Day with Ajahn Narindo

On Saturday 6 July, the coming Uposatha new-moon day, we invite you to join us for a day of learning and meditation at Nalanda Centre.  Held in conjunction with the Gimhāna Retreat, this Cultivation Day will be guided by Ven. Ajahn Narindo, a monk of Chinese-Malaysian descent who was ordained in 2012 by Luang Por Amaro at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery.
