Devotion and Dhamma Learning on Buddha Day

Devotion and Dhamma Learning on Buddha Day

On the auspicious morning of Sunday 31 May, the community of devotees, youths, Dhamma school facilitators, and students gathered to pay homage to the Buddha.  Buddha Day celebrations commenced at 7am with devotees offering alms to venerable Sangha members, followed by a solemn Buddha Pūja which united everyone in the spirit of reverence and gratitude for the great Teacher.

The morning Dhamma talk by Bro. Tan Siang Chye centered on this year’s theme, “Leading a Life of Wisdom & Compassion.”  He highlighted that wisdom allows individuals to accept and not fight reality, while compassion serves as the key to avoiding conflict with one another.  Cultivating these virtues requires consistent effort through continuous learning, practice and by developing mindfulness.  We should anchor the mind firmly in the present moment, rather than let it drift into the past or future.
