Fostering the spirit of giving through Pindacāra

Fostering the spirit of giving through Pindacāra

On Saturday 18 April, Nalanda members and volunteers resumed the monthly Pindacāra (alms-round) at Pasar Basah Bazar Rakyat, Seri Kembangan, after a brief pause for festival observances and a members’ retreat.

The market community warmly welcomed the Sangha members, stepping forward with gladness and respect to offer alms. It was heartening to witness how simple acts of kindness inspired others to come forward to give on their own initiative.  Through sharing by the Pindacāra volunteer team on the significance of the alms-round and the cultivation of merits, some who were initially indifferent or hesitant were moved to give with understanding and joy.

The alms-round concluded with a lunch dāna at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. Represented by Ven. Rahula and Ven. Vijitha from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul, the Sangha rejoiced in the community’s generosity and the support of members and volunteers.

May all donors and benefactors rejoice in this meritorious offering, with hearts filled with joy and the spirit of giving.  May they continue to incline towards the spirit of giving and renunciation.
