Fostering the spirit of giving through Pindacāra

On Saturday 18 April, Nalanda members and volunteers resumed the monthly Pindacāra (alms-round) at Pasar Basah Bazar Rakyat, Seri Kembangan, after a brief pause for festival observances and a members’ retreat. The market community warmly welcomed the Sangha members, stepping forward with gladness and respect to offer alms. It was heartening to witness how simple acts of kindness inspired others to come forward to give on their own initiative.

A morning of alms, mindfulness, and merit

On Saturday 7 February 2026, Nalanda KL Branch members and volunteers hosted the monthly Pindacāra at the OUG and Happy Garden morning markets. The bustling markets were filled with festive cheer as the community prepared to welcome the Chinese New Year. Many marketgoers and stall operators came ready to offer alms to the Sangha members.

Students cultivate respect at Stay-In Programme

From 31 January to 2 February 2026, 80 students and facilitators from Nalanda Dhamma School, along with youth volunteers, came together for a stay-in programme at Nalanda Centre. Guided by the theme “Respect Starts with Me”, the programme provided meaningful opportunities for students to learn the Dhamma, practise mindfulness and strengthen their bonds with spiritual friends.

Free School teachers’ first meeting for the year

Nalanda Free School held its first teachers meeting just last Sunday 25 January 2026 to start off the new academic year.  School Principal, Dr. Ng Chwee Fang led discussions on teaching pedagogy and addressing students’ needs. Dr. Ng shared the importance of instilling positive learning attitudes in both academic and character building which included developing self-awareness, self-learning, self-discipline, self-resilience and self-reflection.

From 16 to 25 January 2026, 23 yogis embarked on ten days of intensive retreat at Wisdom Park under the guidance of Venerable Gavesi. The retreat focused on the systematic cultivation of Vipassanā through sustained and continuous mindfulness.

First Pindacāra of 2026 at Seri Kembangan Market

The first monthly Pindacāra of 2026 at Pasar Basah Bazar Rakyat, Seri Kembangan, was held on Saturday 17 January. It was a rare and inspiring occasion with four members of the Saṅgha from Dhamma Earth – Ven. U Paññasami, Ven. Sudanta, Sayalay Nanacari and Sayalay Mettā Viharī – walking peacefully and mindfully on alms-round.

Strengthening fellowship through volunteering service at Wisdom Park

On Saturday 10 January 2026, a group of Nalanda members and volunteers gathered at Wisdom Park, Kuala Kubu Bharu, for a joyful day of service and uplifting fellowship. The group joined hands to set up the venue and prepare accommodation for the participants of the upcoming meditation retreat with Venerable Gavesi, to be held from 16 – 25 January 2026. The spirit of joyful service, cooperation, and mutual care was strongly felt throughout the day, strengthening bonds among kalyāṇamitta.

Welcoming the New Year with the joy of giving and reverence

Starting the New Year on a wholesome note, Nalanda KL Branch members and volunteers hosted the inaugural monthly Pindacāra at the OUG and Happy Garden morning markets last Saturday, 3 January 2026. Even more significant was having a bhikkhuni to lead the Pindacāra! As Ven. Ayya Sanghamitta walked mindfully on alms round, her serene presence inspired devotees and marketgoers alike to joyfully come forward with offerings, creating a beautiful atmosphere filled with faith, generosity, and reverence.
